Discover motorcycle road safety awareness days
They are called "Curves and Trajectories", "Handlebar Recovery" or "Good Traj'" days, and their aim is to raise awareness among motorcyclists about road risks and good motorcycle riding practices. These workshop days are often free and are largely supervised by gendarmerie motorcyclists.
Let's take a closer look at these enriching moments.
The objective of awareness days
The fact that they take place every year in most of France's departments shows that road risks are not to be underestimated.
Indeed, 167 people died on the road in 2023 and no fewer than 16,000 people were injured.

As mentioned earlier, the objectives are clear:
✅ Raise motorcyclists' awareness of road risks
✅ Continuously train motorcyclists in good motorcycle practices
✅ Reduce accidents involving motorized two-wheelers
✅ Provide educational advice
A typical day
➡️ Each road safety awareness day is organized independently by each department. The program for each day therefore varies depending on the available infrastructure and the number of supervisors on site.
But overall, these days have some similarities:
- There is, of course, plenty of time for discussion on good riding practices, first aid workshops, a reminder of the rules on road safety elements, and discussions about motorcycle equipment.
- This is usually followed by a motorcycle ride to put into practice the elements discussed and to try out a maneuverability course.
- Finally, small exhibition villages are often available to raise awareness of certain elements or promote certain brands.
This is the case for Hit-Air, a brand of airbag vests for motorcyclists, which has been present at several of these awareness days for several years. ????
Focus on Hit-Air's presence at these events
Since 2012, Hit-Air France has been equipping the entire Gendarmerie Nationale, French Customs and National Police.
7000 and counting: that's the number of law enforcement officers equipped with Hit Air.
Since these days are supervised by law enforcement, it was essential to showcase a part of their motorcycle equipment: the jacket integrating a Hit-Air airbag.
Hit-Air regularly participates in these types of events, providing loaner airbag vests, with the aim of demonstrating to motorcyclists the proper functioning of airbag vests, their coverage areas and their associated benefits.
Partners of several prefectures
This is the case for the prefecture of Calvados, which renews these days every year, with a presentation of the Hit-Air airbag vest to its participants.
Mr Dépret Y., in charge of two-wheeled motorized missions for Calvados, shared figures related to these actions:
The equipment rate has significantly increased, rising from 13% in 2021 to over 20% in 2022.
That's an additional 7% of users.
Regarding product knowledge, there are still users to be educated:
- Nearly 20% still do not know about motorcycle airbags : but these figures show the right path ⏳

This is also the case for the prefecture of Pyrénées-Atlantiques, which organized its road safety awareness day in July.
Hit-Air was present at the Road Safety Village in Pau for a demonstration of the airbag vest.
Among the prefectures promoting motorcycle equipment prevention, we also find the prefecture of Haute Corse.
