Meeting Tanguy Brebion
We had the pleasure of speaking with Tanguy Brebion, a passionate rally driver and avid competitor in the French Road Rally Championship for the past ten years.
Tanguy stands out for his determination and technique, proudly riding his Husqvarna 701 FRD and equipped with the MLV-RC airbag vest from Hit-Air.
Focus on the Rallye de la Sarthe
The Rallye de la Sarthe, organized by ASMACO, is held annually in the town of Grand-Lucé.
The 2024 edition saw 160 competitors participate on Saturday, May 6.
Among them, Tanguy Brebion shone by winning the second stage of the rally. However, a 42-second penalty on the Bugatti circuit compromised his chances of overall victory.
The race took place in capricious weather, and Tanguy unfortunately crashed, triggering his airbag vest.
He tells us about how this annual rally unfolded:
"First special on the Bugatti circuit at around 8 am, a cold, damp track, very little grip, a few rear slides on re-acceleration during the reconnaissance lap.
This year it will be a rolling start compared to previous years. We set off for the launch lap, I push myself to try and pick up the pace a bit and refine my lines to avoid too much lean.
Unfortunately, I crash in the Dunlop right-hander, losing rear wheel grip without being able to do anything to save it. A good slide, an opportunity to test the HIT-AIR vest
Annoyed by this mistake, I set off for 4 timed laps trying my best, knowing that the circuit isn't necessarily my strong point!
The other series run on a drying track, conditions are better: lap times are dropping!
In short, I limited the damage.
The rain starts to set in for the day, which promises a tough rally! Both on the road and in the specials.
Conditions in the specials were difficult; I had to manage the black patches, all the right-handers were very dirty with sidecars passing on the verges...
I have the advantage of being very comfortable in these conditions, thanks to my 10 years of competitive motocross.
I achieved good places in the scratch rankings: 5x second, 1x sixth, 1x fifth.

Tanguy's opinion on the Hit-Air MLV-RC airbag vest
"Wearing an AIRBAG vest had become essential for me.
Rally specials have no run-off areas like on a circuit; the Hit-Air MLV-RC vest is an added safety for me.
Before each special, I always have a little ritual of checking the proper connection of the Motorcycle/Airbag cable. It has become automatic!"
